Simon Bolivar:
Was born in 1783-Venezuela. He went a lot to Europe to study specially political science. He’s purpose was to make people think by themselves. Also, Bolivar was one of the most important leaders in the Battle of Boyaca.

Policarpa Salavarrieta:
Was born on January 26 of 1795. She was a very important woman for the Colombian independence because she defended women rights and fought with Spanish people for that. Policarpa was executed by Spanish authorities in 1817. L

Jorge Eliecer Gaitan:
Was born in January 23 of 1903. He studied political science in the National University. He was killed in 1948 by an anonymous killer because of Gaitan’s proposes for the mayor’s election.

Gonzalo Jimenez De Quesada:
He was a Spanish explorer and conqueror who commanded the expedition of the conquest of The New Granada (Colombia). J

 Emblematic Places
Casa Del Florero:
Is a place where ^criollos and españoles^ fought for the independence of Colombia and in consequence of this fight the independence sign was given. It is located in the corner of Bolivar’s square and these a days is a museum in Bogota.

Bolivar’s square:
It was the heart of Santafe (Bogota), in there several protest were presented by citizens, also the king made celebrations and funeral acts in there. After many remodelations, these is a large commercial and political place between 7th  and 8 th   avenue to 10 th   and 11 th   streets.

Quinta de Bolivar:
Was the residence in which Simon Bolivar lived, he refuged in there after Septembrinas conspiration and withessed the disintegration of Gran Colombia (Colombia), It is locate in the 20 th   street no 1 E-91 and is a government museum.

Chorro De Quevedo:
In there Gonzalo Jimenez De Quesada realized his first settlement in the indigenous territories where the Zipa muisca saw Bogota’s sabana. Now it is a public square and it’s located in the 13th  street with 2nd avenue.

·         1538 - Santa Fe de Bogotá founded by Spaniard Gonzalo Jiménez de Quesada. 
·         1717 - City becomes capital of the Viceroyalty of New Granada.
·         1810 - City becomes capital of the Free and Independent State of Cundinamarca.
·         April 9th 1848: Bogotazo fight.
·         6 November 1985: Palace of Justice siege.
·         7 August 2002: Attack at Presidential Palace.
